Benin

Benin is situated in Equatorial Africa. The coast in the South is 125 km long and borders on the Gulf of Guinea. The direct neighbour states of Benin are Togo to the west, Burkina Faso and Niger to the north and Nigeria to the east. With 112,600 km2, Benin has about one third of the area of the Federal Republic of Germany. Porto-Novo is the official capital but most ministries and the presidential office are located in Cotonou. It is the country’s most important economic centre.
